Outstanding Mothers

The National Mother’s Day Committee honored five women for balancing accomplished careers with the demands of motherhood at the 31st Annual Outstanding Mother Awards luncheon, held at The Pierre New York Hotel on May 7.

Honorees included Columbia Sportswear chairwoman Gert Boyle, Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski, broadcast journalist and author Maria Shriver, The Talbots Inc. president and CEO Trudy Sullivan and Deborah Walters, senior vice president and general merchandise manager for Saks Fifth Avenue.

Proceeds from the luncheon benefited Save the Children, a non-profit that “has a proven track record of breaking the cycle of poverty and providing hope to those that need it most,” said Laurie Dowley, chairwoman of the National Mother’s Day Committee and senior vice president of Elizabeth Arden.
