Givaudan Jaunts Up Hudson

Givaudan 1Cosmetic World took an exclusive trip up the Hudson River with Givaudan to explore the fragrance developer’s partnership with the New York Restoration Project (NYRP).

As part of its involvement with the NYRP’s Million Trees NYC program—a citywide initiative to plant one million trees within the city’s five boroughs over the next decade—Givaudan donated $25,000 toward the planting and care of cherry tree and crab apple tree groves in Riverside Drive Park.

In addition to its support of this local project, Givaudan also used its ScentTrek headspace technology to analyze the flowers at the park, with the goal of creating a New York City apple blossom accord.

“Givaudan’s partnership with the Million Trees NYC project is a way we can truly impact the local communities and environment to help make New York City an even better place to live, work and play,” said Cathy Torelli, the company’s senior vice president, sales, North America.

The NYRP was founded by Bette Midler in 1995, and is dedicated to the conservancy of New York’s parks, community gardens and open spaces.

To date, the NYPR and its partners have planted a total of 173,000 trees throughout New York City.

Last year, Givaudan donated $25,000 to plant and maintain a grove of cherry trees in Swindler’s Cove Park in Inwood.
