P&G’s McDonald Ascends to CEO Post

McDonaldProcter & Gamble COO Robert McDonald will transition to the role of president and CEO on July 1, when A.G. Lafley—the company’s current chairman of the board and CEO—will move full-time into his role as chairman.

“Bob McDonald is the most broadly and globally experienced CEO in P&G history,” stated Jim McNerney, presiding director of P&G’s Board. “Bob was elected president and chief executive through a rigorous, disciplined and multi-year succession process led by the Board.”

Under the tutelage of Mr. Lafley—who was elected president and CEO in June 2000—P&G more than doubled sales and significantly increased its portfolio of billion-dollar brands to become one of the five most valuable companies in the U.S. and among the 10 most valuable in the world.
