Origins Kicks Off Nationwide Recycling Effort

Origins bulletinThe natural and environmentally-minded beauty brand Origins is initiating a nationwide recycling effort for Earth Month.

Inspired by an October 2008 Allure editorial on the proliferation of cosmetic packaging waste by editor in chief Linda Wells, Origins kicked off its “Return to Origins” Recycling program on April 2 in New York City.

Recycling receptacles will be stationed at each of Origins’ 450 U.S. counters and freestanding stores. Consumers are invited to drop off all empty bottles—regardless of the brand—in exchange for a sample from the Origins A Perfect World Collection.

“The more we collect from customers…the more we can keep cosmetic packaging out of landfills,” stated Jane Lauder, senior vice president/general manager of Origins, who inaugurated the program outside the brand’s GM Building headquarters alongside Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford, top Lauder executives and Ms. Wells.
