Rumors circulated today that Stila, the Sun Capital Partners, Inc.-owned makeup brand would file for bankruptcy. Founded in 1994 by makeup artist Jeanine Lobell, purchased by The Estée Lauder Companies in 1999 and sold to Sun Capital in 2006, the brand’s e-commerce site is currently down for “routine maintenance.” A message also denotes that, “any orders that were place [sic] on 3/23/2009—3/24/2009 may be canceled. Check your email for notice.”
